Was gonna go south coast today but just couldn't be bothered with the drive as a little under the weather, so opted for wsm as it was 20knts+ down there. After last friday i was hoping for another day on the 4.2, but when i pulled up on the beach it looked 5.0ish weather! a few had just gone out on 4.7-5.0's & seemed plenty powered up, Johno seemed ok on his 4.7 & new evo. I was gonna have ago on my new (to me) 03 86lt Goya but it was windy enough for small board so it stayed in the bag.
1st run out & i was nicely powered a little over at times even though i Loads of downhaul on. It was only 8.5 ish high tide so it stayed quite shallow making chest/ head high waves that were nicely spaced, all very playfull & nice. There was quite a few big holes in the wind which was a pain, but the wind in general was picking up, so much so the 5.0 was getting too much & with another harness line snapping i came in for the 4.2 :)
Got back on & had loads power & the wind was still going up,once the tide turned the wind dropped for a bit, only for a bit as it went mad,the wind to 30knts with stronger gusts & the waves picked up some more.
Mark Hosegood got on & showed us how its done :(
It was a top session & the sun shined all day
